Solution Architect Salary in Australia
If you're a solution architect in Australia, you might be wondering how your pay stacks up against the national average. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) does not publish a specific salary for solution architects, but we can use the latest national averages and medians to give you a benchmark.
National Full-Time Average
The ABS Average Weekly Earnings survey for May 2026 shows that full-time adult ordinary-time earnings are $2,083.70 per week. That works out to about $108,352 per year (multiplied by 52). This is the figure our site uses as the line. If your solution architect salary is above this, you're earning more than the typical full-time worker.
How to Use Our Tool
Our tool lets you enter your yearly salary before tax. It then shows your weekly pay (based on a 38-hour week) and your hourly rate, plus how far you are from the national full-time average. You can Place a salary on the line to see where you sit.
Medians Give a Different Picture
Averages can be pulled up by high earners. The median is often more representative. The ABS Employee Earnings survey (August 2025) reports a full-time median of about $90,532 per year, and an all-employees median of about $74,100. Many solution architects earn above the full-time median, reflecting the specialised nature of the role. You can explore Job medians for more detail.
State and Territory Averages
Where you work matters. The ABS provides state-level full-time averages (original, May 2026):
- New South Wales: $2,108.80 per week (~$109,658 per year)
- Victoria: $2,041.10 (~$106,137)
- Queensland: $2,039.70 (~$106,064)
- South Australia: $1,970.20 (~$102,450)
- Western Australia: $2,227.40 (~$115,825)
- Tasmania: $1,846.30 (~$96,008)
- Northern Territory: $1,984.10 (~$103,173)
- Australian Capital Territory: $2,290.20 (~$119,090)
Solution architects in WA or the ACT may earn more than the national average, while those in Tasmania might see lower figures. See our States and territories page for more.
Industry Context
Solution architects often work in information technology, professional services, or finance. The ABS does not break out solution architects by industry in the AWE release, but you can find industry medians on our Industry medians page. For example, the Professional, Scientific and Technical Services industry often pays above the national average.
Minimum Wage and Awards
The national minimum wage from 1 July 2026 is $26.44 per hour, or $1,004.90 per week on a 38-hour week (Fair Work). That's about $52,255 per year. Most solution architects are covered by awards or enterprise agreements that set higher minimums. Award minimums rose by 4.75% from 1 July 2026. Check your award or contract to ensure you're being paid correctly. Our Guides explain how awards work.
Tax Considerations
Your take-home pay depends on tax. For 2026–27, resident tax rates are:
- Nil up to $18,200
- 15% from $18,201 to $45,000
- 30% from $45,001 to $135,000
- 37% from $135,001 to $190,000
- 45% above $190,000 Plus a 2% Medicare levy (with possible reductions). If you earn $108,352, you're in the 30% bracket. Use our tool to estimate your net pay.
How the Figures Are Set
The ABS collects data from employers through the Average Weekly Earnings survey. It measures ordinary-time earnings for full-time adults, excluding overtime. The survey is published twice a year (May and November). The November 2025 release showed a 3.8% annual increase to $2,051.10 per week. The May 2026 figure is 3.7% higher than a year earlier. For more on methodology, see How the figures are set.
What This Means for You
Without a specific ABS figure for solution architects, the best benchmarks are the national full-time average ($108,352) and the full-time median ($90,532). If you earn above $108,352, you're ahead of the average full-time worker. If you earn below, you might be underpaid relative to the market.
